Mt. Kenya is the highest mountain in Kenya and the second highest in Africa, after Kilimanjaro. The highest peaks of the mountain are Batian at 5,199 metres (17,057 ft), Nelion at 5,188 metres (17,021 ft) and Point Lenana at 4,985 metres (16,355 ft). Mt. Kenya is located in central Kenya, just south of the equator and 150 kilometres from Nairobi.".

Leave Nairobi early at 0600hrs and drive north past central highlands to the Mt. Kenya Sirimon gate. At the gate, we will go through the park check-in process as you prepare your bags and enjoy a picnic lunch. The walk starts at the Sirimon gate following the road up the tropical rain forest to the heather region. Our first camp for the night is at Old Moses camp. The shining lights of Nanyuki town are beautiful on a clear night from this camp.

After breakfast, we set off at 0800hrs following the narrow track towards the new weather station. After the weather station, the route forks right leaving the Likii North route to cross a series of valleys to Mackinder Valley. From here the peaks are clear all the way to the camp for the night.

Rise early for tea and light snacks at 0300hrs. Commence the steep climb via the ridge between the peaks towards Hall Tarn.
Arrive at Lenana peak at 0630hrs in time for sunrise. After the sunrise, descend down to Shipton Camp for breakfast before proceeding down to Old Moses Camp where you will be picked by the driver to Nairobi.
